O/D OFF light flashes on Ford Explorer?

Noticed many a times on most of the car models.

This light is called O/D light or overdrive lamp, and when it flashes it means there is a problem with the transmission , it could be something simple or very complex, but it also means there is a code set in the trucks computer that may give you an ideal of what is wrong , so you can bring the car in for repairs, or if your a little handy you can bring the truck to any auto parts store and they will retrieve the code for free and this will give us a cause of what may be wrong with the transmission.Once the code is retrieved,then that particular code will indicate why this light is flashing up on car dash.
