The firing order is the order in which spark is sent to each cylinder. The spark must arrive at the correct time in the combustion cycle or damage may result. For this reason, connecting the correct plug to the correct distributor or coil terminal is critical. To avoid confusion, always replace the spark plug wires one at a time.
