  1. Disarm the air bag, as outlined earlier in this section.

CAUTION
Wait at least 1 minute before working on the vehicle. The air bag system is designed to retain enough voltage to deploy the air bag for a short period of time even after the battery has been disconnected.

  1. Remove the passenger side lower instrument panel and shower duct.
  2. Remove the glove box striker, glove box, glove box outer casing and the screw below the assembly.

  9. Install the lower instrument panel and shower duct.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable and check the entire climate control system for proper operation.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the stopper, then lower the glove compartment assembly.
    CAUTION
Some models may be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS.

  3. If necessary, remove the blower resistor.
  4. For non-turbo vehicles equipped with A/C, unfasten the retainers, then remove the automatic compressor ECM from the vehicle.
