Chevy equinox quits heat after few minutes?

Actually it starts heat, but after few minutes it quits heat. This problem is mostly and majorly noticed on 2006 Chevrolet Equinox car models. Many other 2006 Equinox users have also complained about this same exact problem.

Sounds like typical temperature door has broken int your Chevy Equinox.
It is buried inside the dash. When it breaks, you have no heat. Not electrical or any other problem.
This repair takes a good 8 hours to replace the $30 door. Entire dash, carrier, and HVAC case has to come out and disassemble.

Unplug and remove the temp actuator motor; if the door is broken the temp door tab will fall into the heater box.

For this same problem at out garage we noticed that the servo motor tries to over turn the shaft on the heat door at the extream cold and hot settings. You can hear the servo working if you listen on the passengers side under the dash with the engine off and the ignition turned to on.
This probably putting undue stress on the heat door shaft. I suggest only setting the temp control one notch short of full hot or cold settings to keep from breaking another door shaft.

One more good and easy procedure to confirm the problem
Quick way to check temp door, is vent position, A/C off.....
feel air flow at full cold.....
now go to full hot......
if air flow remains the same, temp door is not moving........
if it is much slower, than the door is moving....if that's the case, then you may have a coolant leak( low on coolant creating an air pocket) or plugged heater core.....but that would cause the vehicle to overheat. But that's not in your case.So temp door is the cause of problem.

To replace it, you will need to remove the entire dash board assembly, all related parts,
the cross car beam, then you can remove the heater air conditioning case.
The case must be disassembled to replace the door.
It costs about $40 at Dealer only.
This is an very big job. Takes approx 8 hours.
If you are not capable of such repairs, get it done by professional car tech or from Chevy dealer techs.

This will help.Thanks.
