Lincoln Town Car shuts off when decelerating?

Stalling on deceleration is usually due to a clogged fuel filter, vacuum leak or a bad idle air control valve. How does the car idle when cold and warm? If it idles well when BOTH hot and cold then it is not the IAC valve. If you have not changed the fuel filter in the last 2 years do that now. To check for vacuum leaks, first check all the vacuum hoses connected to the intake manifold for cracks or loose connections. Then, spray starter fluid around the intake manifold gasket to check for vacuum leaks. If the engine surges from idle as you spray, you have a leaking intake manifold.
