Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock tumbler on the Escape. Push the power lock button on the driver's door to make the door locks either lock or unlock.
Turn the key to the "Run" position, which is one notch prior to cranking the engine, and then back to the "Off" position. Do this five times then stop in the "Run" position when the door locks cycle.
Push the "Lock" or "Unlock" button on the first remote you want to program. The locks will respond if you have programmed it properly. Repeat this on each successive remote you need to program. Once you have programmed all the desired remotes (which can be up to five), turn the ignition key back to the "Off" position and remove it.
Test all the remotes by using each one to lock or unlock the doors from the outside.
