How to remove control panel on ford expedition?

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



1997-98 ---to 2000 F-250HD, F-350 and F-Super Duty Models

WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Pull the center finish panel away from the instrument panel, exposing the control attaching screws.
  3. Remove the 4 attaching screws.
  4. Pull the control towards you just enough to allow disconnection of the wiring and vacuum hoses.
  5. Carefully release the function control cable snap-in flag from the underside of the control unit, using a prytool.
  6. Pull enough cable through the instrument panel to allow the cable to be held vertical to the control unit.
  7. Carefully release the temperature control cable snap-in flag from the topside of the control unit, using a prytool.
  8. Rotate the control unit 90° and disconnect the temperature control cable from the temperature control lever.
  9. Pull out the control unit.
  10. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the operation of the unit.

WITH AIR CONDITIONING
  1. Remove the instrument panel center finish panel.
  2. Remove the control unit knobs by prying on the spring retainer while pulling out on the knob.
  3. Remove the 4 control unit attaching screws.
  4. Disconnect the wiring and vacuum lines from the control unit.
  5. Disengage the temperature cable by depressing the locking tabs on the connector.
  6. Rotate the control unit 180° and disconnect the function cable from the control assembly. Remove the control assembly by compressing the locking tabs on the connector.
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the operation of the unit.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Carefully pry to release the four clips retaining the center instrument panel finish panel.
  3. Detach the two passenger air bag defeat switch electrical connectors.
  4. If equipped, detach the 4WD control switch connector.
  5. Remove the center instrument panel finish panel.
  6. Remove the climate control assembly retaining screws.
  7. Pull out the climate control assembly.
  8. Detach the electrical connectors.
  9. Detach the vacuum line connector.
  10. Remove the control panel. To install:
  11. The installation is the reverse of the removal.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the radio. Refer to the procedure in this section.
  3. Remove the cluster opening finish panel.
  4. Detach the headlight and dimmer switch wire harness connectors.
  5. Remove the screws and remove the climate control assembly.
  6. Detach the electrical connectors.
  7. Detach the vacuum harness connector.To install:
  8. The installation is the reverse of the removal.
