Ignition control module for 1989 Isuzu Trooper?

Ignition control module also know as power transistor.

To test distributor and ignition control module( power transistor)

1. Check the distributor crank angle sensor signals. On a scope there should be 0-5 volt square wave signals from both of the signal wires. A voltmeter should read some sort of average voltage between 0 and 5 volts while cranking. If the voltage is not changing and is staying at 0 or 5 volts, replace the distributor.

2. If the distributor crank angle sensor signals are okay, do the same test on the power transistor signal wire. It should be a similar 0-5 volt signal while cranking. The other wire on the power transistor should have battery voltage from coil negative.

3. Check the main ECM ground on the lower front part of the intake manifold.

The crank angle sensor is at the bottom left, and the power transistor is on the right and up a little bit

black with a red tracer is power transistor wire.--------

The ecm( engine control module, main computer) will be On Center Of Floor, Below Console. it will be like a silver box with a ton of wires going to it. And your power transistor( icm) is just your ignition control module.both the crank angle sensor and the power transistor wires goes to ecm.
