Turn off your Monte Carlo and prop open the hood.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 10 minutes for the electrical systems to discharge to ensure that you don't suffer an electrical shock.
Sit in the driver's side seat and remove the screw below the dashboard and the headlight switch that mounts the headlight switch to its bracket.
Pry the headlight switch out of the dashboard trim carefully and just enough to see the wiring harness behind it.
Twist off the right-most wiring harness and pull out the left-most wiring harness from the back of the headlight switch.
Plug back in the two wiring harnesses to the replacement headlight switch, seat it flush with the dashboard trim and secure it in place with the bracket screw.
