CUB CADET LTX 1040 will not start and cable adjustment?

The Cub Cadet LTX 1040 is a small riding mower that comes standard with a 19-hp single-cylinder Kohler gasoline engine and a 42-inch-wide mower deck that contains two blades. The blades can be sharpened, but a damaged or bent blade may cause the mower deck to run off-balance.

To remove deck enlargement cable and install follow this procedure:---

Turn off the mower engagement button on the dashboard. Set the parking brake. Lower the mower deck to its lowest setting by moving the adjustment lever on the right fender to its lowest notch.

Locate the mower clutch pulley under the front of the mower. Remove the retaining nuts from the belt guard with a socket and ratchet wrench, then remove the guard. Slide the mower drive belt off the clutch pulley.

Locate the deck retaining pin on the left side of the mower deck. Pull out on the spring-loaded pin to release the deck from the mounting bracket. Repeat for the right side of the deck. Raise the deck adjustment lever on the right fender to its highest notch.

Pull out the retaining pin on the deck engagement cable at the rear of the mower deck. Remove the retaining pin from the stabilizer rod at the front of the deck, then slide the rod out of its mounting hole in the deck.

Remove the cotter pin holding the deck engage cable in place. The cotter pin is a paper-clip shaped piece of metal used for fastening rods and clamps. The deck engage cable is a heavy cable that runs from the deck height controls on the front of the tractor underneath and to the cutting deck. The cotter pin can be removed with pliers. Remove the cable and the spring from the deck idler bracket.

For problems like CUB CADET dies when parking brakes released? The clutch safety switch will kill the engine when the clutch/brake pedal is released. The deck switch will kill the engine when the blades are engaged. The seat switch will allow the engine to run when the rider isn't present instead of killing the engine when the rider isn't present. They don't usually give you any warning they just quit. You can check the safety switches if you make a jumper wire to use to complete the circuit. This will help determine which switches are bad. Make sure your foot is on the clutch pedal. If that is not the problem check the safety switch on the parking brake. This is probably a safety switch or wiring issue grounding out the ignition module . The most common is the seat switch, so I suggest checking it first. But in most of the cases this problem is related to seat switch.
