Removal & Installation
CAUTION
Before beginning this procedure, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section. Only a MVAC-trained, EPA-certified, automotive technician should service the A/C system or its components.
- Recover the refrigerant.
- Drain the coolant.
- Remove the evaporator hose nut.
- Remove the evaporator hose from the evaporator.
- Remove and discard the sealing washers from the evaporator hose.
- Remove the heater hoses from the heater core.
- Plug the heater core and evaporator openings to prevent leaking into the vehicle when removing the HVAC module.
- Pinch off the hoses in order to prevent leaking.
- Remove the instrument panel (I/P) assembly.
- Remove the defroster duct retaining screws.
- Remove the defroster duct nut.
- Remove the defroster duct.
- Remove the air distributor duct.
- Disconnect the blower control module connector.
- Disconnect the I/P harness-to-HVAC module electrical connector.
- Remove the HVAC module retaining nuts.
- Remove the HVAC module.
To install:
- Install the HVAC module.
- Install the HVAC module nuts to the dash and tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm), starting at the top, front and then sides.
- Connect the blower control module connection.
- Connect the I/P to HVAC module connector.
- Install the defroster duct.
- Install the mounting screws.
- Install the defroster duct mounting nut to the front of dash.
- Install the air distributor duct.
- Install the air distributor duct screws.
- Install the I/P assembly.
- Install the heater hoses to the heater core.
- Install new sealing washers to the evaporator hose.
- Install the evaporator hose to the evaporator.
- Install the evaporator hose nut to the evaporator hose.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
- Leak test the fittings of the components.
- Fill the engine coolant.
