If you garmin shuts off again n again or it hangs after few seconds of if its now getting proper signals.Then you can try this procedure:----
The procedure is as follows:----To perform a Master Reset on the nuvi device:
Note: A master reset will erase all waypoints or favorites and will restore your unit to the default factory settings. If you would like to back up your favorites you can find instructions to do so below.
1. Start with the unit OFF and unplugged from power
2. Touch and hold the lower right corner of the screen with an index finger or the eraser end of a pencil
3. Continue touching and holding the lower right hand corner of the screen then power the unit ON
4. Release the power button when the device powers ON
o You will see a new message: Do you really want to erase all user data?
5. Remove your finger from the touch screen when this message displays
6. Touch Yes
The device will automatically reset. Follow the on screen prompts then place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.

In order to back up your Favorites:
1. Using a USB data cable, plug the device into a computer
2. Double-click the My Computer icon (Mac users can skip this step)
3. Double-click the nuvi drive (Mac users can find this on their desktop)
4. Double-click the Garmin folder1
5. Double-click the GPX folder
6. Copy the current.gpx file
7. Paste this file to another location on your computer
Once you save a copy of the GPX file on your computer, you have successfully backed up the waypoints within your device.
To restore these Favorites on your device:
1. Using a USB data cable, plug the device into a computer

But if master reset is not helping to solve your problem, then its software issue and software update has to be done by Garmin.You will have to send it to Garmin service center.
