WATER PUMP
Removal & Installation
2.0L (VIN 3) Engines
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Drain the cooling system.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cableAccessory drive beltWater pump pulleyFront coverTiming beltTiming belt tensionerWater pump
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
Water pump. Tighten the bolts to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).Timing belt tensionerTiming beltFront coverWater pump pulleyAccessory drive beltNegative battery cable - Fill the cooling system.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
2.0L (VIN N) Engine And 2.3L (VIN Z) Engine
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Drain the cooling system.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cableAccessory drive beltWater pump pulleyWater pump mounting boltsWater pump
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
Water pump with new O-ring. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).Water pump pulley. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).Accessory drive beltNegative battery cable - Fill the cooling system to the correct level.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Drain the cooling system.
- Remove or disconnect the following:

To install:
- Install or connect the following:
