OK.
What you have to do is check and see if you have fuel pressure. You have to remove the engine cover to check it.If you don`t have a pressure tester then remove the air cleaner hose to the engine and spray it with carb.cleaner or brake cleaner. If it starts for a few seconds then it is more than likely a fuel pump.If it does not start then you have to check for spark at the spark plugs.Make sure you check more than one plug.If no spark then you have to check the distributor cap and rotor.Make sure the rotor is good and cap also.Things that can cause no spark are the ignition module, coil, and cap and rotor.
In some cases its noticed that problem was fuel pump valve.
There is a fuel dump valve up near the distributor. It has a check valve. Its to maintain constant fuel pressure on the system to enable the engine to start. When high pressure is noticed it opens up and bleeds off some of the fuel back to the tank. What happens is that after a while trash builds up on the seat and the fuel pressure on the rack always bleeds off so there is no fuel to start the engine. It's small usually about the size of a small pcv valve with a hose. It is under the manifold or in the valve cover. Costs about $ 40. Ask the auto parts guy. He will know and can probably recommend what special tools or give you a diagram.
In some cases its spark plug problems.
