Toyota Sienna Power steering pump replacing Procedure?

How to replace Power steering pump on Sienna.

Bleeding:--

Check the fluid level and top off as needed.
Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with safety stands.
With the engine OFF, turn the wheel from lock to lock slowly several times.
Lower the vehicle and start the engine and allow to idle for a few minutes.
With the engine warm and at idle, turn the steering wheel to the left or right lock position and hold it there for 2 to 3 seconds , then turn the wheel to the opposite side lock and hold for 2 to 3 seconds.
Repeat these last two steps several times.
Turn the vehicle off and check the fluid level.
if there is a lot of foam in the reservoir, check the system for leaks and repair, then bleed the system again.

Removal & Installation:---


  1. Remove the clip and disconnect the return hose from the pump.
  2. Remove the pressure feed tube hose clamp set plate nuts. Remove the bolt, clamp plates and holders from the tube.
  3. Disconnect the tube from the steering gear assembly using tool 09023-38400.

  4. Remove the drive belt.
  5. Disconnect the connector from the oil pressure switch.
  6. Using tool 09249-63010, remove loosen the bolt A so that the pump can be removed. Bolt A cannot be removed but pump retaining bolt B can.
  7. Remove the oil pressure switch from the union bolt. Do not damage the switch by dropping it, or it must be replaced.
  8. Remove the union bolt, gasket and pressure feed tube.

To install:
  1. Install a new gasket and the pressure feed tube using the union bolt. Tighten the union bolt to 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm)
    NOTE
    Make sure the stopper of the tube touches the front bracket as illustrated.

  2. Install the oil pressure switch and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (21 Nm).
  3. Install the pump assembly and hand tighten the 2 bolts.
  4. Install the drive belt and adjust the belt tension.
  5. Tighten bolt A to 22 ft. lbs. (29 Nm) and bolt B to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm).
  6. Attach the oil pressure switch connector.
  7. Attach the pressure feed tube to the gear assembly and tighten to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  8. Install the clamp plate set nuts and tighten to 69 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
  9. Connect the return hose and clip.
  10. Bleed the power steering system.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Remove the right hand front wheel.
  3. Drain the power steering fluid.
  4. Remove the right side fender apron.
  5. Disconnect the clip and disconnect oil reservoir to No: 1 pump hose.
  6. Disconnect the connector from the oil pressure switch and remove the switch.
  7. Disconnect the pressure feed tube from the steering gear assembly using a 24mm wrench to hold the port union, then remove the union bolt and gasket. Disconnect the feed tube assembly.
  8. Remove the drive belt.
  9. Remove the pump bolts and the pump.

To install:
  1. Install the pump assembly and hand tighten the 2 bolts.
  2. Install the drive belt and adjust the belt tension.
  3. Tighten the bolts to 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm).
  4. Install a new gasket and the pressure feed tube using the union bolt. Tighten the union bolt to 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm)
    NOTE
    Make sure the stopper of the tube touches the front bracket as illustrated.
  5. Install the oil pressure switch and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (21 Nm).
  6. Attach the oil pressure switch connector.
  7. Connect the return hose and clip.
  8. Install the right side fender apron.
  9. Install the right hand front wheel.
  10. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir.
  11. Bleed the power steering system.
