REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

DRIVE BELT ROUTINGS

Inspection

Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.

Removal & Installation

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
2. Loosen the pivot bolt and adjusting lock bolt.
3. Remove the drive belt.

To install:

1. Install the belt and tighten the pivot bolt to 41 ft. lbs. (56 Nm) and the adjusting bolt to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
2. Remove the right hand front wheel and apron seal.
3. Remove the A/C compressor to crankshaft pulley belt by loosening bolts A and B, then loosen adjuster bolt C and remove the belt.
4. Remove the vane pump belt by loosening bolts A and B, then remove the belt.

To install:

1. Install the vane pump belt and tighten the bolts to 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm).
2. Install the A/C compressor to crankshaft pulley belt over the pulleys. Tighten adjuster bolt C to adjust the belt tension.
3. Tighten bolt A to 43 ft. lbs. (58 Nm) and bolt B to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
4. Install the apron seal and front wheel. Tighten the wheel nuts to 76 ft. lbs. (103 Nm)
