Bearing removal on 2003 olds silhouette?


Adjustment



Both front and rear wheel bearings are integral to the hub assembly and are not adjustable. If the bearings are found to be defective, the hub assembly must be replaced.

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel
    Wheel speed sensor electrical connector and the connector from the bracket
    Brake caliper and bracket
    Brake rotor
    Halfshaft nut

  3. Attach a front hub spindle removal tool to the wheel bearing/hub.
  4. Push the halfshaft out of the wheel bearing hub assembly.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Wheel bearing/hub bolts and discard them
    Wheel bearing/hub assembly

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:
    CAUTION
    The wheel bearing/hub bolts must be replaced whenever they are loosened or removed.



    Wheel bearing/hub assembly



    New wheel bearing/hub bolts. Torque them to 96 ft. lbs. (130 Nm).
    Halfshaft nut. Torque it to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm).
    Brake rotor
    Brake caliper. Torque the bolts to 63 ft. lbs. (85 Nm).
    Wheel speed sensor electrical connector to the bracket
    Wheel speed sensor electrical connector
    Front wheel

  2. Road test the vehicle and check the front alignment, adjust if necessary.
