Wheel Bearings
Adjustment
Both front and rear wheel bearings are integral to the hub assembly and are not adjustable. If the bearings are found to be defective, the hub assembly must be replaced.
Removal & Installation- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:Front wheelWheel speed sensor electrical connector and the connector from the bracketBrake caliper and bracketBrake rotorHalfshaft nut
- Attach a front hub spindle removal tool to the wheel bearing/hub.
- Push the halfshaft out of the wheel bearing hub assembly.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
To install:
- Install or connect the following:CAUTIONThe wheel bearing/hub bolts must be replaced whenever they are loosened or removed.Wheel bearing/hub assemblyNew wheel bearing/hub bolts. Torque them to 96 ft. lbs. (130 Nm).Halfshaft nut. Torque it to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm).Brake rotorBrake caliper. Torque the bolts to 63 ft. lbs. (85 Nm).Wheel speed sensor electrical connector to the bracketWheel speed sensor electrical connectorFront wheel
- Road test the vehicle and check the front alignment, adjust if necessary.
