The Issue Noticed on 2002 Chrysler Concord.Vehicle downshift gets hard and Error code P0700 and P1776 are retrieved.
What are this OBD codes indicating to Inspect?
The OBD error code P0700 just sets in the engine controller when a code sets in the transmission controller.
This code indicates you to get the Transmission controller checked.
It tells you that there is another code set in the Transmission module. This error code P0700 is nothing to worry.
But Error code P1776 sets when the solenoid switch valve in the transmission gets stuck in the low/reverse position or the transmission controller thinks that it does.
OK,WHAT CAN I DO IN THIS SITUATION AND WHY THIS PROBLEM IS CAUSED?
There are a few things that will cause this error code to occur:---
I will explain you those issues and possibilities.
Possibility Number 1:---
OK,SHOULD I REPLACE THE VALVE OR IT CAN BE REPAIRED?
If it's sticking sometimes the bore can be polished to repair the problem, sometimes the valve body would need to be replaced to cure it.If its worn out and very old,i suggest getting it replaced.Because cleaning the valve will just be the temporary option to resolve the issue. The permanent solution is to replace the valve.
Possibility number 2:---------
The pressure switch is located in the solenoid pack mounted to the top of the valve body.
OK,ANY OTHER POSSIBILITY OTHER THEN THIS?
Yes there is one more possibility, that can also cause such issues and set this P1776 error code.
It could be a wiring issue between the transmission and TCM(the controller module). If the low/reverse pressure switch wire shorts to ground any time the trans is in third or fourth gear with the converter clutch on then this code can set. Wiring isn't that common but does happen once in a while.
So if all above possibilities checked ok,then dont forget to inspect the wiring possibility.A loose or shorted/melted wiring or wire got crimped/pinched in between.
This details will help you.
Thanks.

There are a few things that will cause this error code to occur:---
I will explain you those issues and possibilities.
Possibility Number 1:---
- It could be the solenoid switch valve that is actually sticking.
OK,BUT WHERE IS THIS VALVE?
The solenoid switch valve is in the valve body inside the transmission.OK,SHOULD I REPLACE THE VALVE OR IT CAN BE REPAIRED?
If it's sticking sometimes the bore can be polished to repair the problem, sometimes the valve body would need to be replaced to cure it.If its worn out and very old,i suggest getting it replaced.Because cleaning the valve will just be the temporary option to resolve the issue. The permanent solution is to replace the valve.
Possibility number 2:---------
- It could be the low/reverse pressure switch.
The pressure switch is located in the solenoid pack mounted to the top of the valve body.
SO SHOULD I REPLACE SOLENOID PACK OR PRESSURE SWITCH?
There were many solenoid packs identified that had suspect pressure switches and would set this code when the switch failed. A failed pressure switch is the most common cause of this code on your vehicle, which would require solenoid pack replacement.
OK,ANY OTHER POSSIBILITY OTHER THEN THIS?
Yes there is one more possibility, that can also cause such issues and set this P1776 error code.
