How Replacing The Fuse solved The problem

A/C Problem On Lexus:

Problem Solved:

It was the 10a fuse labeled ECM. I never use my seat memory switch so I did not know there was a problem at that point. My AC light would come on but it has been so cold, I did not realize there was a problem. I did notice that whenever I put the climate control on AUTO MODE that the heat was always directed at the floor but that did not click. I have been told that I had a bad switch and bought a new one to no avail. I was told that I had a bad ground so I took off the panels under the steering wheel and looked and got nothing wrong there. I was at the point of taking it to the dealer. Just to probably be charged for an hours work for a little fuse.Replacing the fuse solved the problem completely.

Chrysler: Problems & Solutions

Troubleshooting Chrysler Car Problems

Chrysler Concorde LXi

TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE

PROBLEM:

Chryser 2004 Concorde Lxi started

to 'slip' last week, when starting off from a traffic light. Also, I noticed a slight down-shift while in cruse control on the freeway when going up a small hill

Transmission fluid changed 150,000 miles ago. Will I need to just have the fluid changed again? I presently have over 330,000 miles on the car.

SOLUTION:

Well the trans fluid should be replaced at 60 to 90K intervals, so you are WAY overdue for that service. So yes do a fluid and filter change. Now that may help, but if it does not, then you may need to get the transmission overhauled or replaced. 330,000 miles on a transmission is a lot, and the vehicle transmission is getting worn out. But do the service. You may be able to get another 50K out of her.

Chrysler Concorde

2001 Chrysler Concorde Fuel Filter

PROBLEM:
How many fuel filters  2001 Chrysler Concorde 2.7L has, where are they located and how often they should be changed?

SOLUTION:
2001 Chrysler Concorde vehicle does not have a fuel filter.Instead of fuel filter  it has a strainer which is built into the pump and is not replaceable. If the strainer is causing the problem, then you will have to replace the complete pump assembly. That will solve the problem.

Add ATF Fluid

PROBLEM:

2008 Chrysler sebring convertible 2.4L trying to add some aft fluid to the top pump.

SOLUTION:

The pump motor IS under the spare tire area. Remove the spare tire cover and then the plastic trim panel at the rear of the trunk and you'll find the pump assembly near the trunk latch. The fill plug is on the pump assembly where you can fill it after the leak is repaired.

PLEASE NOTE: This system does not use ATF, you'll need ARAL VITAMOL ZH-M fluid to top it off after a repair or a leak.

Chrysler Town & Country LX

Steering Column Switch Stuck Up

PROBLEM:

06 Town & Country LX Accel/Resume switch on the steering is stuck down in the "on" position. This is causing an inability to engage the cruise control.

SOLUTION:

Basic possibility for Switch to Stuck:

If the switch is stuck it is either because of a mechanical failure of the switch or something stuck in it. I'm assuming you've already made sure nothing is stuck in it that you can view from outside.

For Example: If a sticky liquid like soda or fruit juice was spilled on the switch that would have ran inside and gummed it up and would cause it to stick. One thing you can try, whether there was a spill or not, is try to spray some electrical contact cleaner inside the switch and see if it will free up. The cleaner will hopefully dissolve anything that could be causing it to stick, yet it won't cause further problems like water would.

But If Its Not Helping:
Aside from cleaner and physically trying to pry the switch with something like a small screwdriver, if you are unable to get it to move again then the switch will need to be replaced.May be its worn out and acting like this.

Chrysler Pacifica

Shift Stuck In Park

PROBLEM:

2005 Chrysler Pacifica and the shift is stuck in the park position. It will not shift out of park

SOLUTION:

There are few possibilities, that you will have to inspect and confirm first.

With key ON and your hand on the shifter, when you press the brake, can you feel or hear the interlock solenoid operating? Make sure a/c fan and radio is off to help hear the noise from the interlock solenoid.
(When pressing the brake with the key on can you hear or feel the interlock solenoid operating?).

Important Note: On some of these vehicles there is a "plug" covering a hole in the shifter bezel around the shift lever. The bezel also contains the path for the shifter to move.
Please check if on your chrysler if there is a plug . If you see the plug then you should be able to remove the plug, stick something through the hole to touch a release tab on the shifter, and see if the shifter will move out of park that way.

Mostly Possible Faults In Such Case:

Most likely you have a failure with the interlock solenoid, interlock cable, or an issue with the shifter itself. If your vehicle has the plug and interlock release tab you should be able to allow operation until you can get your issue resolved.

Things You Can Try:
You can attempt to disconnect the solenoid from the cable and see if it will allow operation. You will need to remove the trim panel below steering column that covers lower section of the dash. Then remove the steering column shrouds that are around the steering column behind the steering wheel. With this trim removed you can see the interlock cable attached to the back of the ignition switch.

If Disconnecting The Shift Cable Is Not Helping:
If you disconnect the wiring to the cable it should release the interlock solenoid and allow the shifter to be moved. If it still doesn't shift out of park there is a problem with the shifter assembly itself.

See Below The Diagram Showing
Interlock cable removed from back of ignition switch

Chrysler Jeep Liberty/Cherokee

EGR Control Valve Problem

PROBLEM:
List of Problems Noticed On Chrysler Jeep:
Chrysler liberty/cherokee 2.8 automatic diesel.
  • It idles a little roughly,
  • When brake is applied the rev counter goes to 700 RPM and then back to the normal 750 RPM
  • It has stalling problem.
  • Yesterday it lost all power after a corner, no acceleration (Turned it off, on again and fine??).
  • It emits black smoke.
  • The catalytic converter is quite blocked.

SOLUTION:

First of all confirm if there is check engine light coming up ON dash.If yes scan for codes. The error codes will point out what is issue.

If there is no check engine light coming on, then all problem is indicating towards EGR flow control valve.
This valve may be sticking closed at times especially when coming to a stop. I have replaced this valve (which is like a throttle body) for issues like this. Also a faulty EGR will cause black smoke problems.
Go Through

AUTOMOTIVE EMISSIONS?

Inspect EGR Valve:
I recommend having the EGR flow control valve checked and or replaced. Sometimes just cleaning the soot from it will help. Like I mentioned, it looks like a throttle valve and i's the device that the intake hose from the intercooler connects to.

Other Possibility Can Be Vacuum Problem:

Yes inspect all of the vacuum lines from the little vacuum pump and the solenoids to the turbocharger waste gate actuator and repair any loose or cracked hoses.
Why its rare for vacuum issue because ,Usually though when there is a vacuum problem, a check engine light will come on and set a under boost code. But still dont ignore Vaccum Leak Issue. Also check all of the air intake hoses at the intercooler, turbo, and at the EGR flow control valve.

Chrysler Town & Country

Engine Overheats

PROBLEM:

2004 Chrysler T&C, 3.3L

engine overheats after driving only  few miles. Already replaced the radiator, the water pump, and the thermostat.

SOLUTION:

There are few possibilities for engine overheat while driving.
The first place I would start with this is with the cooling fans. Make sure they are coming on when the engine gets hot.You can also turn on the a/c and this should activate the fans.If the fans are not coming ON,then its issue with fan.For that fan motor and fan control relay has to be checked.

But If Fans Come ON and still it overheats
Then inspect does the check engine light come on or the engine run rough?

If its running rough, then inspect the spark plug and ignition cylinder.

Combustion Test:
Also it's possible that there is a small head gasket leak on any cylinder. The next step should be a combustion test kit to see if combustion gases are coming into the cooling system and causing the over heat.
Also make sure the system is bled properly,
The radiator is  replaced but if the radiator lines are not bleed properly it can cause such the problem.

If it is a small leak on the cylinder, the best repair will be to replace the head gasket. If the exhaust is getting into the coolant you can't really use any of the sealers to solve the problem. The gasket replacement is the only option. The Haynes manual for your vehicle  should provide details in how to replace it for you. But please make sure do the leak check first however.

Dodge Ram:Charging system, Transmission, A/C and Cruise Control Stopped Working

Dodge Automatic Transmission , slow to shift when cold but all gears work fine

Alternator already replace with no difference in problem.

On dodge vehicle models the charging system, transmission, a/c and cruise control functions all are controlled by PCM. PCM is also called as  powertrain control module. PCM  is the module mounted behind the airbox on the firewall.

  • Now as per what the details are mentioned  transmission shifts and if the fuel gauge still works we can assume the PCM is still up and functional. If the fuel gauge did stop working at the same time as the tach and charging system then most probably the issue is faulty PCM.Still it has to be checked, but mostly its PCM.

===============

  • Other possibility,it can be faulty alternator, but its said that alternator is replaced, but still alternator will not work,

REASON WHY?
The alternator receives voltage from the ASD relay and then charging is controlled by the PCM. The PCM turns the ASD relay on only when it knows the engine is running.

=============

  • Other thing can be faulty Crank Sensor.Which i think is most possible.

REASON WHY?

On the timing cover just above the crank damper is the crankshaft position sensor. The crank sensor runs off the crank damper and tells the PCM the engine's speed. When the PCM sees a signal from the crank sensor it will turn the ASD relay on and the alternator can charge. The crank sensor is also what allows the tach to work, it's the only input for engine speed.

As per your problem also tach and charging system stopped working together
Also  tach and charging functions both rely on the crank sensor's signal and these were the only two things lost at the same time it's very likely that you have a bad crank sensor.

HOW TO TEST CRANK SENSOR?

It can be tested with a digital voltmeter, although it is somewhat hard to get to in the close quarters. If you don't have the means to test it then I would do a visual inspection of the wiring and connection, and replace the sensor if all looks ok.

DETAILS ABOUT PCM AND TIMING COVER?

The PCM is the powertrain control module already mentioned before. Its a silver rectangular module mounted on the firewall behind the airbox. It has three 32-way electrical connectors. This is the best indication to locate it.

The timing cover is the thin black steel cover on the front of the engine. The crank damper is the large pulley on the front of the engine, easiest seen from the bottom. It's the largest pulley and is the one coming directly from the engine itself.

CRANK SENSOR LOCATION AND WIRING DIAGRAM:

You will see some wires coming from a harness at the front of the motor leading down past the waterpump  going to the sensor.

The wiring to the crank sensor will run right down past the water pump area and the sensor mounts to the timing cover below the pump area. The crank sensor is the only thing electrical up there.

View the actual picture of a 12 valve Cummins with an arrow drawn to the crank sensor wiring.

12 valve cummins

Mostly it seems faulty crank sensor but if all control function stopped working then it can also be faulty PCM.
These details will help you.
Thanks.

A/C - Driver side cold, Passenger side hot?

Air conditioning blows hot on passenger side but cold on driver's side

2009 Grand Cherokee A/c  driver side gets cold but the passenger side gets warm.

Take apart dash and look for blend door at A/C.

See if everything functioning correctly or not. If everything looks to be turning correctly then you can hopefully rule out the control head and actuators.

Set the temp and see if you can control temperature on heat. If you aren't able to control temperature on the right side when it's on heat then you know you have a right blend door problem, in that case the heater box will have to come out and be disassembled.

But if you can control temperature on heat but the a/c is warm on the right side it's likely a charge issue. The refrigerant charge you can understand.

If you read working of heater Box,it will help you to know the problem much better:

With the way airflow is set up in modern Chrysler heater boxes one side of the vehicle gets air from one side of the evaporator and the other side of the vehicle from the opposite side.
When a/c charge becomes low it will be able to cool one side of the evaporator but not the other so it creates a temperature difference between left and right.
If you are able to control heat ok then the first thing that will need to be done is evacuate and properly recharge that a/c and it should take care of the problem. But if heat is not getting controlled then definitely heater box has to be inspected.

Many a times the problem occurs even after the A/C system is recharged.
On that cases its the problem related to internal refrigerant leak in the evaporator or a broken blend door.

Why i am mentioning about evaporator leak, because at our auto garage we have seen this. The evaporator is made up of a series of plates that are soldered together to make single cores, the evaporator is made up of a stack of these cores. Once in a while they will develop an internal leak and one side of the evaporator will cool and the other won't. This is uncommon but possible.

The other possible cause would be a broken blend door. If you're sure the charge is ok at this point the heater box will need to be removed and disassembled to inspect the blend door.

OK,IF ITS HEATER BOX ISSUE,THEN
HOW TO REMOVE JEEP CHEROKEE HEATER BOX?

Here's the procedure,

First you will have to remove the entire instrument panel as an assembly. Please note that the bracing and everything comes with it, just removing the trim panels won't be enough. The steering column has to be removed or dropped, the center console removed, and then the entire instrument panel assembly. Once it is done then only the the heater box on the firewall  can be removed.

Brace is not very difficult to remove but it looks so,.The brace will not come out as it has two bolts and a screw holding it there and then it has a huge rivet looking pin, that has to be pushed out.

See the image shown below:----
Rivet

The bolts above and below that are the ones that hold it to the pillar, they're either 13 or 15mm. Those are what needs to be removed.Once the bolts are out,the brace is loose to be easily removed.

You will also require basic tools and much is confidence to do this task.

Hope all goes well.

Thanks.
