Chrysler Error Code P1598

A/C Not working and Error code P1598 present. The Problem noticed on 2003 Chrysler Grand Caravan.

Troubleshooting from Free car repair guide.
ARE THIS BOTH PROBLEMS INTER RELATED?

Yes,they are.A/C not working and error code P1598 are related to each other.
The error code is pointing towards the faulty part, that needs to be inspected to make your Air-conditioner work as before.

OK,WHAT PART IS THE ERROR CODE INDICATING TO CHECK?

OBD Error code P1598 indicates problem with a/c pressure transducer.

OK,GOOD GIVE ME MORE DETAIL ABOUT THIS?

Yes sure, the a/c pressure transducer is a pressure sensor on an a/c line. The transducer tells the power train control module(PCM) the actual pressure in the high side of the a/c system. The Error code P1598 is telling you to inspect, test the A/c pressure transducer.

OK,WHERE IT IS LOCATED AND WHY THE A/C COMPRESSOR IS NOT ENGAGED?

To locate this part,See behind the air filter box , mounted to the right strut tower you will find the receiver/drier. There is a small line leaving the top of the drier that goes back to the firewall.
Now on this line you will see a pressure sensor screwed on.
This has a three wire gray color electrical connector. This is the transducer.
Without it's proper signal the a/c compressor isn't going to engage. And that is why in your case too,the compressor is not getting engaged. So its very clear indication to get the Transducer checked and replace if faulty.

CAN I TEST THE TRANSDUCER BEFORE REPLACING IT?
YES Definitely, you can test it.before replacing the part. The testing will give you exact confirmation, that you are replacing the part which is actually faulty.

THAT'S GOOD,GIVE ME THE PROCEDURE?

To test this part you will require digital voltmeter. Now follow this process, unplug the transducer and turn the key on. See if there are two wires with 5v and ground on the third. If all three are ok then the wiring is good, replace the transducer.

If you don't have a voltmeter to do the testing then I would recommend replacing the transducer.Because as per the OBD error code and your problem description, its pointing towards faulty Transducer.

This details will help.
Thanks.

1992 Toyota Camry: A/C Control light Flashing and A/C not Blowing Cold?

No Cold AC and AC button Flashes.

The Air conditioner is not blowing cold air and the AC control light flashes.
The ac light flashes because the compressor is not spinning and the rotation sensor is not detecting or matching the engine RPM. This can be caused by anything from a bad clutch coil on the compressor to a broken wire going to the magnetic clutch or even a bad sensor in the compressor. Start with checking the belt tension then check the connector at the compressor.

For the Connector i will say, there is only one connector to the compressor and it has the clutch wire and the sensor. This is located to the front side of the compressor.

1992 car models basically have Manually operated Air Conditioner Systems.

Because A/C will not run unless you turn it on by pressing the ON button, and switching from heat to cool in other words it don"t come on by temperture changes.

So on that basis i will provide the wiring details. It can be loose or shorted or make be unplugged wire to the connector or it can be faulty AC control relay too.
Read the details mentioned below:----

At the connector at the compressor pin number 4 is a black wire with t a white tracer. This is the power feed from the MG/CLT or magnetic clutch relay int he fuse box under the hood on the drivers side. MAke sure the relay clicks on and then B/W wire is getting 12 volts. Then try to swap it with another relay with the same configuration. This will help to confirm ,if relay is the issue.

Try this Test Procedure.
Disconnect the connector and check for 12 volts at the black/white wire with the relay still in place. You should get 12  volts from b/w wire and light should not blink .Now connect connector back up and see if light A/C button light blinks or not.
If yes then Relay is the issue.

This details will help you.
Thanks.
