1998 Dodge Dakota/ Obd Codes P300,P301,P303,P305,

Dodge OBD Codes P300,P301,P303,P305,


1998 Dodge Dakota Problem:

1998 dakota 3.9, get 4 codes p300,p301,p303,p305, with a loss of power no rough run, mostly shows up between 1/2 to full tank. 

AutoParts replaced are both heads checked out being cracked, pcm (dodge) spark plugs, cap,rotor, wires,coil, this code has been coming up since before any repair has started,after I replaced the heads  the codes came back, I also replaced the evap solenoid on the fire wall, any thoughts.
Vehicle is run 132,000 miles



Possibly Of Fuel Level:

If it truly is correlated to the fuel level being higher then it could be happening because liquid fuel is being pulled into the evaporative emissions system. If the rollover valve on the tank is allowing liquid fuel to be pulled into the canister and evap system it will cause the engine to run rich. 

Options To Be Tried:

You can try removing the purge solenoid's vacuum line off at the intake and capping the nipple and then see if the problem goes away. 

Another Possibility Can Be Fuel Injectors:
You could have an injector issue. At out Auto repair garage we see lots of these trucks with debris plugging the injector inlet screens. The fuel line comes into the rail on the same bank as all the misfire codes are setting on, these three cylinders are the ones you would expect to have problems with if there was debris coming in from the line.So check the injectors.

Reasons for Cylinders To Run Lean:

On the bottom of the intake is the plenum pan which seals to it with a paper gasket. These were troublesome and the gasket would suck out in sections between the bolt holes. If the gasket was sucked out it could cause some cylinders to run lean and it can also cause oil to be pulled out of the valley and be burned in the engine. If the plenum pan gasket wasn't replaced when the intake was off this could be part of your issue.
So get the plenum pan gasket inspected.

Dodge Durango Will Not Start And Shuts Down Going Down The Road

Vehicle Starts And Dies

Dodge Durango will not go over 30 mph revving up the engine the engine light is ON

OBD codes P0320 & P0700.

2000 dodge durango that does not want to start at times shuts down going down the road now it dont want get over 30 mph revving up the engine the engine light is ON.



EXPERT's REPLY:

First Retrieve The error Codes.
The simple Procedure Is as Follows:

Cycle the key from off to on three times ending with it on and watch the digital odometer display. Don't crank the starter, just off to on. The codes start with a P and have four numbers, there may be more than one stored.

Error Codes are :
P0320 & P0700.
Reason for OBD Code P0700:
P0700 sets in the engine controller when there is a code stored in the trans controller. If you're having transmission symptoms then the codes will need to be read from the trans controller using a scan tool to further diagnose that. It's likely that there is a code in the trans controller that's related to the other issue though.


Reason for OBD Code P0320:

P0320 is related to your starting and dying problem for sure.
P0320 sets when the engine controller doesn't see an input from the crankshaft position sensor.

Where Is Crank Sensor Located And What It Does?

 The crank sensor is mounted to the right rear of the engine block and reads off a tone wheel on the crankshaft. It tells the controller where the crank is in it's rotation and it's speed and is the main input needed for spark. This code sets when it knows the engine is turning but sees not crank sensor input.


What are possible causes for this problem to occur? And from where to start troubleshooting this problem?

 Possible causes for this would be the sensor or it's wiring. I would recommend taking a look at the wiring and connection and if all looks ok then replace the sensor with a Mopar part. This code is almost always set by a failing crank sensor.

The trans controller also gets the crank sensor signal and will set a fault code if it drops out, so what is stored in the TCM may be a P0725 because of the crank sensor issue. I would repair the crank sensor first, clear the codes by disconnecting the battery and see if the P0700 does reset.

If it does then you know something else trans is going on and you'll have to get a scan tool on it. If a scan tool won't power up when connected then there is either a connection problem, wiring problem to the data link connector, or the IOD fuse is blown.
So Should I Get The Vehicle Scan for Error Code First OR Replace Crank Sensor?

 What I Suggest Is, The first thing you're going to have to do is repair the crank sensor issue. Without a clean crank sensor signal it's not going to run correctly or possibly not at all. May be there are multiple problems going on at the same time but it may just be the crank sensor. The first thing you'll need to do is visually inspect the crank sensor wiring and connector, if everything looks ok then go ahead and replace the sensor with a Mopar part, disconnect the battery to clear codes and then see how it runs.

TRUCK SURGES WHILE RUNNING

2003 Dodge Ram Truck 4x4 surges while driving.And check engine light came ON.

Got the truck engine module scanned.

RECEIVED MULTIPLE OBD ERROR CODES

List of received error codes:---
P0633, P0837, P0839, P2121, P2122.

Its 5.9 Cummins Engine with Standard Transmission.

NOW FROM WHERE TO START THE TROUBLESHOOTING?

Its a multiple error code issue.There are few different parts in your vehicle that needs to be inspected.
First you need to know what this codes are telling and i want to know If you have replaced the ECM(engine control module) on your vehicle or not.

OK, ECM IS NOT REPLACED?

Why i asked about ECM got replaced because of error code P0633.

The error code P0633 sets when the SKIM information hasn't been properly transferred to the ECM after replacement. If  ECM replaced then  this code set because ECM is not programmed and just replaced. This code tells you to get the New ECM programmed.

But as you mentioned above that ECM is not replaced in your vehicle then the code is set erroneously or because of an aftermarket programmer being used. This code isn't related to the problem you are having.
Its nothing to worry,but other codes are.

OK,WHAT EXACTLY THESE ALL ERROR CODES MEAN?

The other codes which you noticed are real problems.
The Error code P0837 and P0839 are both for the transfer case position sensor. These could be wiring or the sensor itself.Mostly its the sensor problem.
But this both error codes are not related to your driveability problem.Yes its related to transfer case position sensor but not related to vehicle surges while driving.

And Error codes .
P2121 and 2122 are both for the accelerator pedal position sensor (APPS).
And this error codes are definitely related to drive ability issues which are noticing.

OK,WHERE IS APPS LOCATED?


The APPS (Accelerator pedal position sensor) is  mounted to the bracket under the black plastic cover at the left front corner of the cylinder head.Its exactly where the throttle cables enter. On the back of the bracket is the APPS. These sensor tells the ECM how far the throttle is open.But if the signal from this sensor is incorrect then ECM will not control the throttle and you notice such problems.
Vehicle surges, hesitates,stalling,jerks,stumbling etc.

SO SHOULD I REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR

Before replacing this sensor i suggest to inspect the wiring.
Error codes P2121 and 2122 can be caused by a wiring problem between the sensor and ECM, or the sensor itself, or problem with the ECM.
Wiring or the ECM are possible but not common at all, although failures of the APPS is majorly noticed. What I would recommend is a visual inspection of the wiring and connection, try cleaning the Sensors plug terminals then re-insert and see if its helping.But if wiring checked ok and cleaning the Accelerator pedal position sensor connectors is not helping  then replace the APPS.That will solve the problem.

OBD codes P1521 and P0750

Poor Acceleration problem on 2006 Dodge Ram and check engine light came on.Also shifting issues noticed.
Scan test shows error code P1521 and P0750.

Is Poor Acceleration related to this error codes?
What exactly Obd error code P1521 and P0750 indicates?

Yes this error codes are related to your problem.

The error code P1521 is for incorrect engine oil type. May be you have recently got the oil replaced and refilled it with wrong oil type.Or the previously replaced oil is not got very thick and dirty.If its the case then inspect the oil condition and type and replace it with proper suggested oil as per owners manual.
The engine computer controller monitors oil pressure versus temperature to determine if the correct oil is being used, this code sets when the incorrect viscosity is detected. You may have the wrong oil in it, a thick oil additive will set the code also. As per dealer and owners manual dodge ram truck requires 5w20 and no additives or this code will set.


Now the other code which you got is P0750.
This obd error code is for the low/reverse solenoid in the solenoid pack inside the trans.The low reverse solenoid needs to be inspected. This code sets when the voltage on the circuit is incorrect for a given state. With this code set the trans is going to be in limp-in, either third gear only or third and fourth.

And due to this both error codes.
One the oil quality related and other the transmission shifting related,you will notice poor acceleration.

WHAT POSSIBILITIES TO BE CHECKED FOR P0750 ERROR CODE?



  • The solenoid has to be inspected.The solenoid shorts due to various reasons.It could be an open circuit, short to power or ground on the low/reverse solenoid driver wire anywhere between the powertrain control module and the trans.
  • On some cases it was noticed hat PCM ( power train control module) was faulty.So it could also be the powertrain control module itself. A wiring problem or the module are certainly possible but not common.
  • Or it can be connection issue at the large connector on the left side of the trans, but again that's not common.

OK,OUT OF THIS 3 POSSIBILITIES WHAT IS MOST COMMON?

The most common cause of a solenoid code is a failed solenoid, requiring solenoid pack replacement. The solenoid pack is mounted to the top of the valve body in the trans. Most likely your solenoid pack will need to be replaced to repair this concern.

So in your case first inspect oil quality and next inspect low/reverse solenoid located in transmission on top of the valve body.

2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid: OBD Codes P3190 and P0AOF?

Mostly in such cases you see dash Warning lights Coming ON.
The warning lights like  "Check VSR System", "Check the Hybrid System"  "Brake" red signal warning light ON, Warning light to  Check ABS etc etc.

As per Error codes details provided in states that ............

The p3190 means there was a loss of power from the engine.
 The P0A0F means the HV computer detected an abnormal signal from the engine. There are 4 sub INFO codes that code be set. This code be anything from bad fuel or run out of fuel to an issue with something in the sensor or inputs to make the engine run. If you cycle the key off then restart or READY on and then press the accelerator to the floor to force the engine to start and it does start and run this may be a fuel related issue.

If you have recently changed the Fuel or gt the fuel tank filled,then may be that fuel is dirty or dusty.


Drain the fuel and put some additives in the tank to counter act the bad fuel residue. When ever the master warning light comes on. It shuts the system down. It will not allow another restart attempt until the key or start button is cycled off and on. If you do not do this to attempt another engine start it will run the HV battery down then you are stuck.


To cycle off the key or start button,Simply Put your foot on the brake and push the start button then push the accelerator. If it will not ready on and the engine does not start then the car will need towed.

But if in case the Battery is Down,then Please Note that HV battery needs to be recharged.The voltage is 12 volts.Dont use another normal battery,this model only uses HV batteries and not the normal batteries.


The Hv battery shuts down to protect from an over drain but you need to get the fuel cleaned out and get the engine started again to recharge the HV battery.


Dirty fuel many a times gets stuck at spark plugs or at fuel injection rails.

You need to pull the spark plugs and see if there contaminated and disconnect the fuel injection rail clean the residual fuel out of the lines by activating the fuel pump and flushing good fuel through the lines up to the rail.

Hit the start button to attempt a start and this will turn the pump on. Just make sure the raw fuel is captured safely at the line to the injector rail.
