Dodge ram ecm connector no start

NO START DUE TO ECM CONNECTOR

ECM is vehicles brain. That controls the electrical system of vehicle. It also excepts the signals from sensors and commands the electrical parts to operate at their respective time period. This is how your vehicle starts and stops.

05 dodge ram 3500 5.9 diesel no gauges,no start,no communication with ecm with the key on i can unplug the blue connector to ipm or the c1 connector of pcm then plug back in and everything will power up and work fine until key is turned off for a short period of time then it wont power up until one of the connectors is unplugged i have checked power and grounds to and from ign switch, ipm, ecm everything seems to be in order. when i have no power i have no 5v ref on c2-33,c1-41,c1-54,c1-27 but then i have battery voltage on c2-23,c1-25.

Try this solution:
Disconnect the electronic fan clutch connector and check if ECM response returns and the engine starts. Replace the fan clutch assembly if normal operation returns with the fan clutch disconnected.

i tried it three times works every time thanks a million.

dodge ram 5.9 turn over but wont start new wires an plugs new stater and crank sensor new ecm and coil.

When you turn the ignition to the run position can you hear the fuel pump in the fuel tank run for a couple of seconds and then turn off?

that tells me that the PCM is powering up and is probably ok. Now have you checked for spark at one of the spark plugs while cranking the engine.

With the test light test the voltage at coli.
let's see if you are getting the 12 volt feed to the coil from the ASD relay. Disconnect the coil 2 way connector, ground the test lead clip to a good ground and then probe both terminals in the connector while some one else turns on the ignition. The light should power up for a couple of seconds and then go off. You should see this on one of the terminals.

I want to see if the PCM is seeing the crank and cam sensor signals when the engine is cranking. Do the test for ASD voltage at the coil connector again (test light clip on negative, and probe in the green/orange wire) you said that you did get power there for a couple of seconds after turning on the ignition. Now check that while cranking the engine. The light should come back on if the PCM sees a valid cam and crank signal.

If no light is coming this tells me the PCM for some reason is not seeing a cam and/or crank sensor signal, or the signals are out of sync (timing chain jumped). Let's try this: Crank the engine for at least 15 seconds and then check codes If the crank or cam sensor is not sending a signal then the PCM should  set a code.

================

boosted the dodge ram diesel 6 speed ,then thinking is would check the alternator i disconnected the battery's it stop and wont start at all. all it does is blow fuse 42 PCM.

Exact Color of the wire is red.its a 30 amp fuse.

Fuse 42 feeds the solid red wire leaving the TIPM at pin 1 of connector 3 and goes straight to the ECM. If the fuse is blowing but doesn't blow with this wire removed then it's either shorted to ground or the ECM has failed. All you'll need to do is unplug the ECM and reinstall the wire to the TIPM connector, if the fuse doesn't blow then you know the problem is in the ECM and it will need to be replaced. Removing the battery cable with the engine running would have created a voltage spike from the charging system and would be expected to cause modules to fail, so I expect that the ECM is going to be the problem and not the wiring.
Please note ECM is called as car's computer module.

The ECM is the large square module mounted to the left side of the engine block. It has two 60-way electrical connectors that are bolted on. Just unplug these two connectors, make sure the wire is installed back in the TIPM connector, throw in a new fuse and see if it blows.

A new ECM will run about $1,760 at a dealer, cheaper if you can find an aftermarket re-manufactured unit through a parts store. You could install it, once it's installed then it will need to be programmed with a dealer scan tool before the truck will run.

This will help.
thanks.

No Bus On Display Of Dodge Ram

ECM Connector Problem

"NO BUS" means that the communication system between the computers has stopped working.

The  PROBLEM WITH  2001 DODGE RAM 1500 PICKUP. THE DEALER Asks  100 DOLLARS AN HOUR TO FIGURE IT OUT.
Hi I have a 2000 Ram 1500 that had the same problem.
In the Electrical Power Distribution Center ( The fusebox located in the engine compartment )There is one big connector with a screw down through it that loosens or tightens the connection.

This problem is noticed by many dodge vehicle owners. For some unknown  reason that connector stop making good contact with at least one or 2 of the pins. What has to be done is take that off, clean it up, and put it back on and everything will work fine.

What is suggested is clean it better with contact cleaner and coat it with some dielectric grease and see if it stands the test of time. This specific problem generally seems to be some kind of electrical contact problem and not the Computer or any other major part.

I had the same "no bus" all gauges dead on my 2000 ram 1500. After looking at all the different answer posted I tried all of them and this one that worked.
I tried disconnecting the main plug held down by a screw in the fuse box on the engine compartment. I disconnected, blew the plug and the connect with compressed air, plug it back in tighten the screw and my truck is fine again. Everything works as it should.

Hope this helps others too facing this same problem.

---------------------------------

The other possibility:---
When you turn the wheel to the right it squealing/squeaky and when you turned it to the left it gets louder. It turns out to be wheel bearing.
Jack up the truck, grabe the tire from the top and bottom and move it up and down. If there is play or the axel shaft moves with the tire, you got a bad wheel bearing.
-------------------

Not in all but in some cases:---
squeaking noise you are hearing is caused by a plastic cosmetics around the steering column, as you are turning your steering wheel with one hand take your other hand and see if you can move the plastic cosmetics to see if the squeaking sound goes away also try to re-adjust tilt steering wheel,If in case its loose.

Dodge Durango Front Passenger Side Water Leak

Passenger Side Water Leak

Dodge Durago Leak in interior front post passenger side when it rains, comes in thru handle grab bar

Troubleshooting:

Can Be Issue With Sunroof:

If you have a sunroof that would be the most suspect source for the leak. At each corner of the sunroof there is a drain tube that allows water that comes past the glass to be channeled off and drained under the vehicle. If the right front drain tube has become restricted then it won't be able to drain fast enough and water will run into the headliner and then can run out of the grab handle area.

If you have a sunroof I would start by checking the right front drain tube.

On Vehicles With No Sunroof:

If you don't have a sunroof the water can be coming in from roof rack fasteners, cracks or gaps in body seam sealer, or the body mounted door seal retainer. The retainer mounts to the body with screws and then the seal mounts to the retainer.

Option To stop Water Leak:

It isn't unheard of for water to weep past the screw threads and into the interior. Sealing the screw threads with a little silicone will take care of it if that is the case.

This will Help.
thanks.

Engine Surges

Dodge Durango Surges and Stalls

Dodge Surges Erratically and Revs Up And Down

Engine Surges

An engine surge is often caused by a fuel system operations or drivetrain operation  failure. The fuel management system makes use of sensors that keep track of emission output and engine overall performance and are interacting with the main PCM (powertrain control module) managing fuel mixture, timing and emission management systems. When the engine is surging the PCM is "hunting" by altering the fuel mixture and timing. These corrections are made by the PCM in an isolating manner as the PCM tries to match its parameters. These parameters are not being satisfied due to a system breakdown.

PROBLEM:

06 durango,  stalled last night pulling out of drive way leaving for work, then was revving erratically engine light came on, only drove a 1/4 mile.  Put a scan tool on it, said low voltage, and OBD ii codes P0562 low voltage, P0876 trans fluid pressure switch P0700 transmission control system mil request.

Started it this morning battery was shot started super slow tested battery only had 12.1v,put new battery in, it started right up much faster, but will not go in revers or drive its like its in neutral, fluid is clean and full but it wont move at all, jacked up the car to see if wheels would spin in gear they do not, if i spin the tires by hand the speedometer reads the speed.

Main Problem:

While turning out of the driveway, after it stalled the engine was running erratically revving up and down then the check engine light came on.
There were no codes prior, they all popped on after it stalled. Its a 4.7 4x4 slt.

Troubleshooting:

First We Will Discuss OBD Error Codes:

What Exactly This OBD ii Error Codes Say Or Point Towards:

OBD II Code P0562 sets when battery voltage falls too low and was almost surely set by your bad battery. This one won't be related to the symptoms you are having and is just informational in most cases.

OBD II Code P0700 sets in the engine controller when there is a code stored in the trans controller. This one is just informational and tells you to read the trans codes.

OBD II Code P0876 is for the performance of the underdrive clutch pressure switch. The pressure switches close when there is fluid in the respective circuits. This code is going to be related to your symptoms.

Your Vehicles  Exact Problem?

Most likely its just seems a filter issue. What often happened on these is a bad cooler filter caused fluid drainback while sitting, which in turn will cause the sump filter to split or even pop out of the pump. When this happens then there is no line pressure because it sucks air rather than fluid and the trans can't engage. It will set pressure switch codes because there is no fluid pressure in the circuits when the solenoids apply clutches.

Failed Accumulator Cover
It's possible that the accumulator cover on the right side of the valve body has failed, but it's more likely a filter issue.

Inspect Sump Filter:
The first thing I would recommend is dropping the pan and inspecting the sump filter. I believe you will find the filter has either split or popped down out of the seal that holds it into the pump.

Delay Going Into reverse:
The delay going into reverse is due to bad cooler filter, this is caused by loss of prime and loss of prime is what splits or pops the sump filter out. So this all is related to each other.

Using Branded Parts,Instead Of Aftermarket Parts:

I'm still seeing problems with aftermarket filters causing this but the Mopar filters have been clean for many years. I wouldn't recommend aftermarket filters in this trans.Go for branded parts.

Its Not Electrical Part Failure:
The problem is definitely hydraulic rather than electrical. Even in the event of complete electrical failure the trans will still have third gear and reverse. An electrical issue can't cause the symptoms you are having.

Symptoms Of Faulty Filter:
Revving the engine that high is pulling some fluid through the filter. The filter is either split or partially popped down out of the seal; it's possible there could be a pump issue but it's not likely. Don't rev it up to try to drive it like that though, It can cause clutch damage.

2006 Dodge Durango Vehicle Transmission Details:

The governor pressure solenoid and transducer were used in the Torqueflite transmissions, you have a 545RFE.

Problem Due To Sump Filter Failure:

You have all the perfect symptoms of a sump filter issue. You have no line pressure at idle and the underdrive pressure switch isn't closing, and you had delayed engagement leading up to it which is a sure sign of a filter issue. Other possibilities for such problem can be  pump or clutch issue, but the probability of a filter issue is almost confirmed.

As Per Our Auto Garage Repair Experience:

We have seen lots of dodge with same issues.
It's definitely possible that it had a bad cooler filter on it from the factory. There were thousands of bad cooler filters out there and it was subject to a TSB and a recall. I've seen problems with ones that weren't involved in the recall, TSB or build date range also.

The fact that revving it allows it to engage tells us that most likely it's sucking air. It could be a pump or clutch issue but it's very likely sucking air.

If the sump filter popped out of the pump completely then it wouldn't engage at all, but if the filter has a split seam or it is sucking air around the seal then it will cause such problem as described in the question.

If replacing the filters doesn't help then the most likely cause is the pump itself if line pressure is low.

Reasons For Delayed Transmission Engagement:

First of all the engine shouldn't die from a bad battery alone as long as the charging system still working.
The engine died because the torque converter clutch was dragging from low line pressure.

Possibilities for this is failure of the pump or any trans part to fail suddenly.

Priming the Pump
Raising the RPM's will help to build prime and suck fluid from the pan, once fluid is flowing, although aerated, it may stay engaged.

Other than filter issue it's possible that a bad pump or sticking valve in the pump valve body could cause the delayed engagement. It's very unlikely that this pump would fail in a way to cause delayed engagement, and it's uncommon for the valve to stick and cause delayed engagement, but possible. Replacing the pump would be the repair either way.

Why The Vehicle Dies:
If the torque converter clutch drags at low speeds or when stopped then it will kill the engine. This is a common thing to happen on this trans when low on fluid or line pressure drops. This is most likely why it died.

Working Of Pressure Switch:
Pressure switches close when there is fluid applied to a clutch circuit. On 06 dodge durango vehicle pressure switch code setting for the underdrive clutch, meaning that there is no pressure there when the solenoid is turned on. Pressure switches are feedback to the trans controller rather than outputs that create action.

Reason For Loss Of Line Pressure:
The only things that can cause a loss of line pressure are low fluid, a sump filter issue, or the pump. If the problem is just in the underdrive clutch then that opens up other possibilities, but if the fluid isn't burnt then it's not likely a slipping clutch.

Working Of Underdrive Clutch:
The underdrive clutch is used for forward and reverse. It's used for reverse, first, second, second prime and third.

2006 Dodge Durango Has Solenoid Pack:
As previously mentioned above there is no governor transducer or solenoid on this trans. There is the solenoid pack on top the valve body that contains shift solenoids but the problem is hydraulic. An electrical issue couldn't cause the trans to not engage.

It's building prime once you get to the 2,000 RPM area. It's not likely to be the pump, most likely it's sucking air at the sump filter or it's seal.

This Details Will Help.
Thanks.
