Battery and Bake light ON

Mitsubishi Montero Brake and Battery Warning lights ON.

Testing shows Faulty Alternator causing these problem.

NOW after replacing the alternator the vehicle is not just just one click when key is turned on to start.

SYMPTOMS NOTICED:-----------

• Battery and Brake warning light ON.
• With new alternator vehicle just clicks and no cranking.
• Bad Smell or rubber or belt burning.

If the alternator is aftermarket, there is a good chance it is your problem. Mitsubishi model does not get along well with aftermarket alternators as they usually last from a few days to a few months at best.
That's the difference between aftermarket and genuine branded parts.
Aftermarket parts are not bad parts,but there performance is weak as compared to original parts.

About the smell issue:---
It can be related to alternator or the other thing to be concerned about is the front camshaft seal.
These crankshaft seal is known to drip straight down onto the alternator, and especially in the case of aftermarket units, causing them to fail (in addition to smell) which is getting noticed.


Currently with no cranking, we can probably suspect that the battery was run down from the alternator failing.
Get the battery recharged or try with another working battery.OR the other option is to jump start the vehicle and see,if its running with Alternator and are the warning lights coming up on dash,which were coming up previously.



As per the details mentioned,it clearly indicates that problem is related to battery getting low and loosing its charge.The battery has lost its charge.Because before replacing the Alternator the vehicle was getting started with Battery and Brake warning lights on Dash.


It sounds like it could just be a case of a failed battery or even a loose connection on the battery cables (either at battery or alternator which is replaced).

If the battery is severely depleted, it will run on alternator power however the charging current will cook the battery (literally) and you will get a pungent burning odor as it pushes out hydrogen.

Getting both battery and alternator retested will help.

2008 Toyota Highlander: ABS warning light Blinking and OBD Error codes Coming?

In this cases you will see ON dash warning lights blinking or Coming ON steady.

The abs light, brake light and the triangle light with a danger sign.

And You get C Series Error codes when scanned.

C1203, C1210, C1336, C1345, C11368, C1392.

The Scan has to be done by Toyota Scan Tool,to get proper and complete list of error codes.

This normally means there is a problem in the ABS system. Typically the weakest link is the Wheel speed sensors. 

This codes all point to an issue with the calibration and initialization of the YAW rate sensor and the linear solenoids in the abs/vsc actuator. To reset this take a scan tool and allot of patience. If it will not re initialize then you are looking at a problem with the Actuator itself.

Actuator is the device that controls the ABS and VSC functions to apply the necessary hydraulic pressures to the 4 wheels.

It is called a brake actuator. And the Retail price of Actuator is $2450.

To Calibrate Actuator you will need Toyota Scan tool.It cannot be done by Normal Aftermarket Scan Tools.

To Calibrate the Actuator try the ZERO point Calibration procedure.

If the Calibration is not getting completed and same error codes are coming up again n again then its faulty Actuator.

C1345/66 Error Code indicates 

Linear Solenoid Valve Offset Learning Undone

The system ie the linear solenoid needs to be reinitialized by Toyota Scan tool.

This details will help.

This Repair needs proper professional Knowledge and Preferred scan tool.

Otherwise has to be done by Professionals or at dealership.

Anti-lock brake light stays on all the time?

This problem is noticed on many car models using ABS system.

The very first place to look is the front wheel speed sensors. The wiring is common for failing in them.
Use a multimeter to test resistance of the sensors, both fronts and look for signs of wires being chaffed or broken.
