1986 Chevy Corvette: Theft Deterrent VATS Module Location?

Where is theft deterrent module located or where is the location of VATS Module.

On 1986 model Chevy Corvette the module is under the Instrument panel.

For that you have to tilt the IP pad forward to access it underneath the IP Pad on right side of dash:

Follow the detailed procedure mentioned below to remove the VATS module:-----

1) FIRST OF ALL REMOVE THE I/P CLUSTER TRIM PLATE
For that details are defined below:------
- Pull off headlamp switch knob.
- Move the steering wheel to it's lowest position and telescope it all the way out.
- Remove the tilt lever from the column.
- Unscrew the eight (8) screws holding the trim plate and remove it.

Now once the cluster trim plate is out............
2. REMOVE THE I/P ACCESSORY TRIM PLATE

- To remove Accessory trim plate remove the 4 screws.Four (4) screws hold it on.

3. REMOVE THE I/P UPPER TRIM PAD. (Care must be taken when handling this pad to avoid damage to it.)
The procedure to perform this defines below:----------
- Remove three (3) screws above the cluster, - Remove the two (2) screws above the center display.
- Remove the fuse box cover and the right hand I/P trim plate.
- Remove the I/P pad screw located above the fuse box.
- Remove the two (2) screws from the defroster duct.
- Pull the I/P pad rearward and up to remove it. (If the car has speakers mounted on the pad the wires must be removed first.)

PLEASE NOTE:----WHEN REASSEMBLING THE I/P PAD BE SURE TO LINE UP ALL OF THE HOLES AND NUTS. FAILURE TO DO THIS COULD CAUSE A NOISE CONDITION TO EXIST.
DO NOT OVERTORQUE THE SCREWS AT THE DEFROSTER DUCT WHEN REINSTALLING.
SERVICE PROCEDURE (CONT'D)

4. REMOVE THE TOP TWO SCREWS FROM THE I/P CENTER TRIM PAD ASSEMBLY AND TILT IT FORWARD.

5. REMOVE THE VATS MODULE. Its held by 2 SCREWS.

6. INSTALL THE NEW VATS MODULE AND REVERSE THE ABOVE PROCEDURE TO REASSEMBLE THE VEHICLE.

This procedure will help.
Thanks.

2007 Toyota Avalon: Security System Reset?

The Engine Immobilizer or Theft Deterrent System light is blinking.

Its the factory light with the picture of the key and car.Its a red light that blinks.
First of all i will say, check the basics.

That is ....
all doors, trunk, hood to be sure they are closed properly.
Also checked the shift selector and the ignition switch to make sure it is in the Lock position correctly.
Try starting the engine a few times with both keys and see if it starts fine.

If all this checked ok.
Then i will say,ITS A CONFUSION.

Many Toyota Avalon Car owners face this problem.

The light keeps blinking when the car is shut off and the key is removed.

Try this Procedure and this will clear the confusion.

Using one key at a time inserting into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the key to the on position does the security light go out or does it continue to flash on each key.Try will both key one by one and see what difference you get with each key.

Actually With both keys if the light does go off when in the ON position. If the light goes off when you simply put the keys into the ignition.

THEN,this is normal for both situations as soon as you insert the key into the ignition lock cylinder this means that the immobilizer chip in the key is being recognized by the immobilizer system and this light goes out. When you remove the ignition key this light will flash intermittently as a security measure. This is normal for this light to flash slow and steady with the key out of the ignition cylinder. This will not drain the battery and is normal.

Hope this details help you.
Thanks.
