Nissan Altima Fuel System Removal

The fuel pump in a Nissan Altima is electric so you should check the fuses and relays before inspecting the fuel pump itself.
Before removing fuel pump,relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench.

Access the fuel pump by taking out the rear seat and removing the access cover. Unplug the fuel pump's electrical connection and disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel pump.

Old pump, bracket and new pump,

Remove the fuel pump by holding the connector for the fuel line in one hand while pressing down on the two locking tabs at the same time. Lift the fuel pump out of the fuel tank. Discard the O-ring.


Move the electrical connections and fuel line to the new pump. Install pump into foam sleeve, and lock in the bracket. Lock on the sock and you have a new complete fuel pump assembly.

Start by locating the fuel pump cover under the rear seat. Remove the fuel pump cover by removing the four screws that hold it in place. You then need to remove the locking ring. It should twist right off. Disconnect the electrical connectors of the fuel pump. Disengage the fuel lines from the car’s fuel pump assembly as well.Remove the entire assembly and replace with a new one the same way the old one was removed.
