The Bank1 Sensor1 and Bank2 Sensor1 are both mounted to the exhaust manifolds on either side. The Bank2 is the side closest to the front of the vehicle, and Sensor1 is before the catalytic converter. Same for the Bank1- except on the side of the engine closest to the firewall.

HO2S means heated oxygen sensor.


The HO2S:
has the ability to create a voltage signal dependent on exhaust oxygen content.
provides feedback information to the PCM used to calculate fuel delivery.

The Catalyst Monitor Sensors:
monitor oxygen content after it flows through the catalytic converter.
provides a voltage to the PCM used to calculate catalytic converter integrity.
