Where is ECM located on 1997 Ford Ranger?

On 1997 model ford ranger.

The ECM is located on the firewall down near the clutch. It's behind a black plastic cover.  The cover has six little plastic clips that are fragile and many a times breaks.But try that clips dont break while you open the cover.But if it breaks,then you have to apply other glu/gum or thread material to hold the ECM in place.

Do it gently,it will not break.
