2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser: Battery and Oil Warning Light Comes ON?

Warning Light comes up on Dash and goes Off.And Again comes ON while driving and Goes OFF.

When both of these warning lights come on, this is very commonly a problem in the Charging System. There are few basic possibilities that are to be checked.

• This can be a loose connection at the battery, a battery that is not accepting a charge, or a faulty Alternator. 

To confirm the problem .........

• First check the connections at the battery and make sure they are tight, and do not have excessive build-up on them (The help  image is shown  below). 
• If the connection are tight, and look good, the battery and Alternator will need to be tested. 
• If you have access to a volt meter, you can quickly test these yourself. 

The testing procedure is as follows:-----------

• With the engine running, take a voltage reading at the battery terminals (see the help image shown  below). 

NOW,in the test .........

• If the voltage reading is not between 13.2-14.4v, the Alternator is the problem, and will need to be replaced. 
• If the Alternator passes this test, shut the engine off, and wait 15 minutes. With the engine off, take another reading at the battery terminals. If the voltage this time is anything less than 12v, the Battery is the culprit and will need to be replaced. 

IN case

• If you do not have access to a volt meter, most "big chain" parts stores, like AutoZone will run these test for you, for Free, right in their parking lot.
