How to remove a compressor on Buick lesabre?

CAUTION
Before beginning this procedure, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section. Only a MVAC-trained, EPA-certified, automotive technician should service the A/C system or its components.

  1. Recover the refrigerant.
  2. Remove the upper tie bar support brace bolts at the upper tie bar.
  3. Loosen the upper tie bar support brace bolts at the headlamp and bumper fascia mounting panel and position the braces out of the way.
  4. Remove the upper radiator seal.
  5. Remove the upper radiator mounting brackets.
  6. Remove the compressor hose nut from the condenser.
  7. Remove the compressor hose from the condenser.
  8. Remove the headlamps.
  9. Remove the evaporator hose nut from the condenser.
  10. Remove the evaporator hose from the condenser.
  11. Remove and discard the sealing washers from the compressor hose and the evaporator hose.
  12. Remove the lower hood latch support bolts
  13. Remove the fasteners from the left and right sides of the front fascia support.
  14. Lift and pull forward on the headlamp and bumper fascia support to obtain access to the condenser mounting bolts.
    NOTE
    The bolt retaining the condenser to the radiator end tank is a special length and should be the ONLY bolt used upon reinstallation.

  15. Remove the 2 condenser to radiator mounting bolts.
  16. Separate the condenser from the radiator by lifting out of the lower mounting tabs.
  17. Remove the A/C condenser side seals.
  18. Remove the condenser from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Add the proper amount of refrigerant oil to the new condenser.
  2. Install the condenser into the lower radiator mounting tabs.
  3. Install the condenser into the vehicle.
  4. Install the condenser mounting bolts and tighten to 53 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  5. Install the new A/C condenser side seals.
  6. Reposition the headlamp and bumper fascia support and install the fasteners and tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  7. Install the lower hood latch support bolts and tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  8. Install a new sealing washer to the evaporator hose.
  9. Install the evaporator hose to the condenser.
  10. Install the evaporator hose nut condenser.
  11. Install a new sealing washer to the compressor hose.
  12. Install the compressor hose to the condenser.
  13. Install the compressor hose nut to the condenser and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  14. Install the upper radiator mounting brackets.
  15. Install the upper radiator mounting bracket bolts and tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  16. Install the upper radiator seal.
  17. Install the headlamp and bumper fascia mounting panel support bracket bolts and tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  18. Install the headlamps.
  19. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  20. Leak test the fittings of the component
